Talk therapies are a well-established and effective approach to addressing a wide range of mental health concerns. These therapies involve conversations between you and a trained therapist, where you explore your thoughts, feelings, behaviours, and experiences to gain insight and develop healthier coping strategies. Talk therapies provide a safe space for individuals to work through life challenges, emotional distress, and mental health conditions.
-
We understand that every individual has different needs, which is why we offer several types of talk therapies to address a variety of challenges. All our clinicians have received specific training to deliver their preferred modalities in a modified, neurodivergent-affirming way. Below are the key therapies we provide:
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT):
ACT focuses on accepting difficult emotions and experiences while committing to a lifestyle that aligns with personal values. This therapy is well-suited for neurodivergent individuals, especially those who are aiming to unmask or who are facing challenges in understanding and coping with their emotions. ACT helps individuals build psychological flexibility, which can be crucial for improving their mental health and achieving a sense of well-being.
Psychodynamic Therapy:
This type of therapy delves into unconscious thoughts and feelings, exploring the underlying causes of distress. It can be beneficial for neurodivergent individuals who are dealing with past trauma, unresolved issues, or complex emotional experiences. Psychodynamic therapy can help identify patterns of thinking and behaviour that may be influencing current struggles.
Person-Cantered Therapy:
Person-Cantered Therapy focuses on creating a non-judgmental, empathetic environment in which clients feel accepted and understood. This therapy is often ideal for individuals on the Autism spectrum, as it provides a safe space to express feelings without fear of rejection or misunderstanding. It also encourages self-exploration, unmasking and self-acceptance.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT):
CBT is a highly effective, goal-oriented therapy that helps individuals identify and change unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours. For neurodivergent individuals, CBT offers structured approaches to address issues such as anxiety, low self-esteem, and difficulty with emotional regulation. It also teaches practical strategies to help individuals with ADHD manage impulsivity, time management, and focus.
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT):
DBT is a type of therapy focused on helping individuals manage intense emotions and improve interpersonal relationships. DBT can be especially beneficial for neurodivergent individuals who experience emotional dysregulation. The therapy incorporates mindfulness techniques and skills-building exercises that help individuals tolerate distress, regulate emotions, and communicate effectively.

Traditional talk therapies are a powerful, effective, and evidence-based approach to mental health that can help individuals gain insight into their emotions, thoughts, and behaviours. While therapies like EMDR can be transformative for trauma recovery, talk therapy offers amore reflective process and is suitable for individuals who want to explore their feelings in-depth, resolve long-standing issues, and improve emotional well-being.
